Bills mailed bi-monthly (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov), due the 25th of the billing month; minimum bi-monthly $30 water + $40 sewer; in-town $6.37/1,000 gal water and $4.87/1,000 gal sewer; 10% penalty on late.
Trash day
Pickup days are on the Town's trash page and yearly trash and recycling calendar.
Yard debris: First and third Mondays; biodegradable bags or tied bundles 4-5 ft long, max 50 lbs; no plastic bags; do not put yard debris in trash or recycling carts.

Re-entry after a storm
Four-stage re-entry after evacuation: Stage 1 damage assessment and Town personnel; Stage 2 businesses and property owners with decals; Stage 3 contractors with decals; Stage 4 normal traffic.
Decal: Property Owner Decal (island property owners/businesses); permanently affixed on the driver's side of the vehicle.
Pickup at Town Hall Jan 2 - June 1, 2026 with a Property Owner Decal Acquisition Form; five decals per owner; after deadline one decal may be bought for $10 post-storm. call 910-579-2166.
Paid parking & permits
Town paid parking is run by Otto Connect (SurfCAST); season permit $175 per vehicle per calendar season per Town page.
Cost: Town page lists $5/hour up to 3 hours, $20/day, $80/week, $175/season; verify current rates at SurfCAST.
Enforced: Paid parking April 1 - October 31, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM; no parking midnight - 6:00 AM; fines and appeals via Otto Connect.

The street rules
LSVs on public streets only (not sidewalks); licensed driver; NC DMV registration, tag, inspection and insurance; out-of-state LSVs registered/tagged in home state; gas golf carts will not pass NC inspection; Town issues no temporary permit. Valid driver's license needed to drive a cart.

NC Tag & Tax Together
Your vehicle property tax is billed together with your registration renewal. The DMV mails the notice about 60 days before your tags expire. Pay online at myNCDMV (the payment processor adds $3 + 1.85%), by mail, or at a license plate agency.
